MPF is going ahead

We are delighted to share, that after so much uncertainty for all of us, MPF21 our 6th Medway Print Festival is going ahead thanks to funding from Medway Council’s Culture Team.

MPF21 will be a combination of online content as well as several in-person live exhibitions and events.

We have decided, just for this year, to extend the event from its usual fortnight to run throughout June from 1st – 30th. This provides our contributing organisations with more time to participate and and offer a greater number of events.

The Festival features the welcome return of several exhibitions open to visitors including; ‘Jane Furst’ at INTRA, ‘Pattern & Beyond’ printed textiles by UCA students, and the long awaited ‘Last Dream of my Soul’ Dickens 150 Print exhibition both at Rochester Art Gallery, as well as The Halpern Galleries Open Call show and POP exhibition by Neil Mattingly at Nucleus Chatham and Rochester.

Workshops and courses include; the chance to try linocut, collograph, monoprinting, cyanotypes, screen and gelli printing. The website also features a range of how to print videos and will be growing an online gallery for local printmakers and studios to showcase their work too.

We are grateful to all the talented printmakers and organisations taking part this year including; iPrintedthat, INTRA, Nucleus Arts, Hazelnut Press, Rochester Art Gallery and Medway Adult Education. Curious visitors can also explore @medwayartbox the former red BT phonebox in Rochester which has an MPF takeover inside all month.

We will not be producing our usual pink printed brochure this year as we appreciate dates and details may change at short notice, so in MPF21 will be promoted here and on social media. Please do like and share content with us #mpf21 #medwayprintfestival

If you are a printmaker or run an organisation or venue in Medway or the surrounding area and would like to take part please do get in touch and let us know about any real or virtual print based exhibitions, workshops, courses, talks or opportunities we should add to our listings. We welcome new participating organisations and venues so please do pass this on to anyone you think might like to take part.
